| The Northern Section of the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain held its Veteran Car Rally and Run in Harrogate over the first two days of September 1962. The programme of events reads: Saturday 1st September
Part I - RALLY - From the competitors’ homes to the rallying point at Harewood House. Cars should arrive before 12 noon or else they will be penalised. Part II - RUN - First car leaves Harewood at 2.30pm via Wetherby, Spofforth, Stavely (Tea Halt 3.15pm), Wormald Green, South Stainley, Ripley, Harrogate, 5.00pm.
Sunday 2nd September
Part III - CONCOURS d’ELEGANCE - on the West Park Strays, 10.30am. The Veteran Car Club of Great Britain at this time was only open to cars manufactured before 1916 with entrants bringing these cars from as far a field as Perth in Scotland, Letchworth in Herts., Lenham in Kent and Hurstpierpoint in Sussex.
The 43 cars taking part in this Rally and Run were sorted into three classes:
Class II - Cars manufactured between 1901 and 1904. There were 12 entrants in this class. Class III - Cars manufactured between 1905 and 1910. There were 12 entrants in this class. Class IV - Cars manufactured between 1911 and 1916. There were 19 entrants in this class. |
