Farmers are not the only people who work in rural areas. Many other trades and professions are essential to the rural community – blacksmiths, tinsmiths, shopkeepers and publicans to name a few. The postmen in rural areas deliver mail every day, whatever the weather, just as they do in the towns, but they may have to endure harsher conditions on the more isolated and exposed routes.

These Parks were set up in the 1950s to conserve the natural beauty, wildlife and historic features of the area, while helping visitors to understand and enjoy its special qualities.
