Storage conditions before the project
| The Unné Collection was housed in cupboards in manila envelopes. So firstly, we re-housed the envelopes into archive quality storage boxes, and then moved the collection into the Project Office. The next stage was to replace the manila envelopes with acid free archival envelopes. Luckily, the negative sleeves already in use were acid-free, but we did replace a few that were not. The first of these pictures shows the original storage of the photographs and negatives, and the original manila envelopes. The third picture shows Christine Caley carrying out some conservation work, and the final one shows the condition of the photos and negatives once they have been placed in acid free storage. |
