| The Project is called Unnetie because the bulk of the illustrations chosen for the Project are from the photographic archive of the Harrogate photographer Bertram Unné (1913-81).
However, as part of the Project, we must include material from various collections and cooperate with other organisations. As a result we have used about 7500 of the Unné images, the remaining 2500 are taken from the collections of Harrogate Library (1300 images), Scarborough Library (1100 images), and about 40 each from the Dales Countryside Museum and County Record Office, plus 10 audio clips from the Northallerton & District Local History Society. So ’Unnetie’ is a play on words - Unity, which is how it is pronounced, becomes Unnetie. |
